WEEK 1 Review

GAME OF THE WEEK

In a week of blowout after blowout one game stayed close until the final buzzer. This game had the much-doubted ALLIANCE pitted against another much-doubted team In Flames. The MVP of this game would have to go to Philadelphia QB Donovan McNabb. McNabb was not even slated to start this game until a last minute move gave him the nod over Denver QB Jay Cutler. McNabb did not disappoint either as he picked up 35 fantasy points, throwing 3 TD's and gaining 360 plus yards through the air.

In Flames was helped greatly by New Orleans half back Reggie Bush who broke off a few long TD's in his game leading his NFL team to a 24-20 win over Tampa Bay. Green Bay's gritty defense also put up great numbers for owner PJ as they returned a punt all the way back for a TD and had a surplus of return yards against the Minnesota Vikings.

At the end of Sunday night's Chicago upset, all games with the exception of this one were all but over. Yet the GOTW stood at a stand still as the ALLIANCE lead by a single point 101-100. It all came down to ESPN's 1st Monday Night Football game of the season and evening. Even though the ALLIANCE had multiple players to only a couple of the In Flames faithful, the game stayed close through halftime.

That was only of course, until the ALLIANCE's 1st round pick rattled off a few long runs as well as a 55-yard reception of WR Greg Jennings. In Flames attempted to breathe for air and did again at one point as a Green Bay rookie returned a Minnesota Viking punt all the way back to put In Flames within 6 of the ALLIANCE. Yet a 40+ yard run by Green Bay RB Ryan Grant put away In Flames for good. I guess you could say Peterson poured the fluid on to the opposition, and Grant finally lit them up with a final blow to In Flames.

What was predicted to be the game of the week turned out to be a low scoring affair and somewhat of a no contest at the same time. A projected tie turned out to be nowhere near predictions as the crafty Mullet Mafia whacked the Elastic Warriors in this battle of back-to-back draft picks. You could feel the tension at the draft between these two owners, sitting next to each other, you could sense the a storm was brewing.

With both QB's getting little to none points due to Carson Palmer losing his entire team to injury or drugs/convictions and the Top rated QB, arguably of all time, going down with a blown out knee in the first quarter, it could be nothing else but low scoring. Westbrook and Wayne picked up the slack of slacking players for the Mullet Mafia, no pun intended. While on the Warrior side no one picked up any of their teammates and a loss comes in return for their team. You give in garbage and guess what comes out........

Michael Turner and Marion Barber outscored the contagions of the Crotch Waffles 65-64. What else is there to say besides cherish every moment you have with your trophy at your bedside.

Steady Eddy always wins the race and it was exactly the case in the Chinese Eggrolls' big week 1 win over Norfolk-in-Chance. Every single player on the Oriental Express' team scored double-digit points with the exception of Devin Hester who is also a member of the ALLIANCE. Willie Parker of the Pitt Steelers was the big scorer in this game scoring 3 Td's for 30+ fantasy points. Yes Norfolk-in-Chance had their big scorers in Saint's QB Drew Brees (28) and RB Frank Gore (20), but the rest of the team simply didn't show up. Eggrolls roll by a difference of 49. Norfolk-in-Chance needs to make some major moves or week 2 might have them lose by Ocho-Cinco points.

Week 1 had two-time league winner Godzillas matched up against former regular season winner and league runner-up Jimmasters. Simply click on the Final link above to see their final match up and you will see the big difference in scoring in this game. The Godzillas' players scored puny wimpy numbers compared to the opposition. The Jimmasters squeak by on an easy week against a former champion looking for the 3rd championship to claim Dynasty!
